Counselling in Telford with Michael Neath
A safe, person-centred space to explore what’s on your mind - at your pace and on your terms.

If you're looking for counselling in Telford, you might be going through a difficult patch, facing relationship problems, or struggling with emotional distress you can’t quite name. Whatever brings you here, this could be your first step toward something different - a path toward understanding, clarity, and positive change.
I’m Michael Neath, a fully qualified counsellor and BACP-accredited therapist offering in-person and online counselling to clients across Telford and Shropshire. With years of experience supporting people through anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, and identity issues, I offer a confidential space where you can speak freely and feel genuinely heard.
My work is grounded in a gentle person-centred approach, which means the counselling is shaped around you - your pace, your experiences, and your individual needs. Whether you're a young adult, an older adult, or someone in the midst of a life transition, we’ll work together to create a safe environment where lasting change can begin.
About Michael Neath

A person-centred counsellor with years of experience, professional training, and a calm, grounded approach.
I’m Michael Neath - a fully qualified counsellor with a master’s degree in Clinical Counselling and years of experience supporting individuals through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. I’m also a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in line with its ethical framework.
Based in Shrewsbury, my approach is simple, honest, and deeply human. I work as a person-centred counsellor, which means I don’t come in with a pre-set agenda or offer quick-fix advice. Instead, I offer a steady, compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.
Over the years, I’ve worked with people facing everything from mental health issues, anger management, and identity issues, to life changes, relationship difficulties, and emotional distress. I’ve supported young people, older adults, and clients from a wide range of backgrounds - always with curiosity, respect, and an open mind.
I believe therapy works best when there is a genuine human connection - not just a service. My job is to hold space for your story, honour your strengths, and walk alongside you as you move towards healing, clarity, and better mental health.

Who I Help
Support for a wide range of issues - tailored to your individual experience.
Life can be complicated, messy, and overwhelming. You might be feeling anxious, stuck in difficult patterns, or dealing with the fallout from a traumatic experience. Or maybe you’re not even sure what’s wrong - just that something doesn’t feel right. That’s okay.
In my practice, I work with:
-
Young people and young adults navigating college life, identity questions, or social anxiety
-
Adults experiencing relationship issues, low self-esteem, or chronic stress in daily life
-
Those living with bipolar disorder, personality disorders, or complex mental health issues
-
Individuals processing sexual assault, domestic abuse, or childhood trauma
-
People adjusting to life changes, such as separation, grief, or becoming a parent
Whether you're managing ongoing challenges or facing a recent crisis, counselling can offer space to reflect, reconnect, and move forward. I bring extensive experience in the field of counselling, with a focus on emotional safety, honesty, and human connection.
This is a place where your whole story is welcome - even the parts that feel hard to name.
How Counselling Works
Counselling is more than just talking - it’s about being truly heard. At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship: a safe, respectful connection built on active listening, compassion, and care. I create a confidential space where you can be honest, vulnerable, and real - without fear of judgement.
As a person-centred counsellor, I won’t follow a fixed script or direct your sessions. Instead, we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences together. You lead the way - I’ll walk alongside you.
Here’s what you can expect:
-
A welcoming, non-judgemental space in a discreet private practice setting
-
Full confidentiality in line with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical framework
-
Support that adapts to your individual needs, emotional pace, and personal goals
-
The option of face-to-face work in Shrewsbury, or online counselling for clients across Telford
-
A chance to reflect, process, and grow - whether you're seeking short-term relief or long-term personal development
I understand that opening up about confidential matters can feel intimidating. That’s why our first session is designed to be gentle and pressure-free - just a space to see how it feels, ask questions, and decide if it’s the best way forward for you.
My Clients Say

I thought I’d find the counselling process difficult, but Michael made me feel at ease straight away. I was surprised at how easily I could open up. The sessions were a turning point in my life and helped me become more aware of who I am and who I want to be.
Michael really has helped me transform the quality of my life. I now see what’s truly important to me. I’d strongly recommend speaking to him if you’re struggling and want to better understand yourself and find happiness.
